About Rate Parity Monitor
Rate Parity Monitor exists because enterprise rate parity tools are built for hotel chains — and priced like it. Independent hotels were left with two options: pay $400+/month for features they'd never use, or check OTA prices by hand. We built a third option.
The story
The idea started with a familiar frustration. A relative who runs a small boutique hotel kept losing direct bookings and couldn't figure out why. After digging in, the answer was clear: Booking.com was quietly selling their rooms cheaper than the hotel's own website — through member discounts the hotel never fully signed up for.
Every one of those bookings cost 15-20% in commission. Worse, it trained guests to always check Booking first. The hotel was paying to lose its own customers.
The enterprise tools that catch this — OTA Insight (now Lighthouse), RateGain — start around $400/month and require a sales call just to see pricing. For a 30-room family-run hotel, that math never works.
So, as a developer, I built a scraper to check the prices automatically every day. It worked. It caught violations the hotel had no idea were happening. That weekend project became Rate Parity Monitor.
Who we're for
Rate Parity Monitor is deliberately focused on independent hotels and small groups — boutique properties, family-run hotels, and consultants managing a handful of properties. The people who feel every commission point and don't have a revenue management team.
We're not trying to be everything. We do one thing — catch rate parity violations and track competitors — and we do it at a price that makes sense for a small hotel. If you need demand forecasting, channel management, and 200 OTAs, the enterprise tools are genuinely better for you, and we'll say so.
Our principles
- Honest pricing. Public, transparent, no sales calls. $35/month, cancel anytime.
- Honest marketing. We compare ourselves to competitors fairly — and tell you when they're the better fit. No fake reviews, no invented logos.
- Focused, not bloated. We'd rather do rate parity and competitor tracking well than do twenty things poorly.
- Built by someone who uses it. Every feature comes from a real problem a real hotel had.
Where we are now
Rate Parity Monitor is an independent, bootstrapped product — no investors, no growth-at-all-costs pressure. That means we answer to customers, not a board. It also means we grow carefully: every feature is built because a hotelier asked for it, and we'd rather have 100 happy independent hotels than chase enterprise contracts we can't support well.
